List of Pregnancy Symptoms

There will be a time in most women's lives when they find themselves wondering if Aunt flow has missed her monthly visit.  It might be too early to take a pregnancy test, but there are some very common, telltale signs that you should start eating for two.

Pregnancy symptoms vary from woman to woman and even from pregnancy to pregnancy, and the only true way to confirm or deny a pregnancy is with your doctor, in his office. 

Use the following guidelines as just that: a guide to what you might experience in a new pregnancy.  Remember that in pregnancy's earliest stages, some of these symptoms are comparable to regular pre-menstrual and / or menstrual symptoms.  Don't let yourself feel either overjoyed or distressed, because something that you might believe to be a pregnancy could just be your regular period.

You're not trying to get pregnant, you might feel like your period is coming and that your'e in the clear.  Not so fast.  It could be just the opposite, so be aware!

If you are pregnant, you can almost certainly expect to change and grow as a human being journeying into parenthood.  These following symptsoms are common to many early pregnancies.

Symptom #1
Aunt Flow is Never Late!
On the third Friday of every month, you prepare yourself for the dreaded visit of your period. You wait a couple of days and think traffic perhaps, is to blame.  But, still, no Flow! Now is the time to start thinking, "Could I be pregnant?" 
If there is even the slightest chance that you could be pregnant, you start analyzing every new twinge, pain, and emotion in curiosity of what may be.  

Some women do not miss their period entirely when pregnant. A lighter, shorter version of the period could also be present during pregnancy. 

Symptom #2
"Gut Instict"
It is not unusual for pregnant women to suddenly " feel pregnant."  Don't be afraid to trust your insticts.
Perhaps you know your body well enough to notice event he smallest of changes.  Maybe you have lost your appetite, can't stay awake past 5 p.m., or are spending more time than your spouse in the bathroom.  Or, maybe it is that certain je ne sais pas, but you just can't shake the feeling that are pregnant.  This is not a rare finding among pregnant women. 

Symptom #3
Sleeping on your stomach is becoming painful
Sometimes pregnancy will cause sleeping on your back to become more comfortbale than sleeping on your stomach. Also your breasts might begin to hurt like never before. They become somewhat sensitive and tender or even feel bruised.  You could notice that the nipples will begin changing color -- normally a darker color. 

Early in the pregnancy, your body will start preparing itself by getting the milk flow read in the breasts.  Sometimes this process might be a tad bit painful.  But remember, this will pass and soon, the joys of motherhood will be the result.

Symptom #4
What Time is it?
Do you find yourself checking the clock more than usual? Waiting for bedtime before dinner is served?  Can't keep your eyes open long enough to watch the end of Oprah?  Another common sign of pregnancy is fatigue. 

Your body is working harder than ever before to prepare to host another life! All this work is bound to make you tired.  If you are indeed pregnant, do not be afraid to take a nap, make your bedtime earlier and refrain from some exhausting activities. Many pregnant womenexperience more energy later on in pregnancy. 

Symptom #5
When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go
No matter what you drink or don't drink, you could find that you have to urinate more often.  When you are pregnant, there is an increased level of pressure on bladder and uterus, and therefore, you have to empty the bladder more often. 

This is a minor inconvenience  that you are sure to get used to, and it will be well worth it in the end.

Symptom #6

Feeling like you can't keep anything down, or can't actual GET anything down? This is another of life's greatest pregnancy symptoms. The good news about this one: It's usually temporary.  Some women report the so-called morning sickness during week 1 of pregnancy.  Others don't report this symptom until much later in the first trimester.  But don't be fooled by its name: Morning sickness can and does strike at any hour. 

Tips for dealing with the nasueated feeling include eating saltines first thing in the morning, taking a few nibbles of food at a time, drinking flat soft drinks, and planning small snacks and meals throughout the day.

Symptom #7
My Head is Spinning!
You may be surprised by this one, but being dizzy and even fainting are often reported symptoms of early pregnancy.  Low blood-sugar and low blood pressure are the normal culprits. Try to eat frequently throughout the day, avoid sudden movements or exercising on an empty stomach to deal with this problem.

Symptom #8
A New Appetite
You have seen it in the movies a million times.  The pregnant woman sends her doting or dreading husband to the store to pick up ice cream and pickles to satisfy her pregnant craving. While the pickles and ice cream might be a stereotype, it's true that pregnant women crave certain foods. 

Some women crave different foods, both healthy and unhealthy, while others can hardly force themselves to eat an apple in the morning.  Whatever the case, just make sure your strange appetites don't steer you to eating unhealthy foods.

Symptom #9
A Dog's Nose
You might feel as if your nose and sense of scent has been tranformed completely.  Smells that you used to find admirable, might now make you sick.  Your nose might be more sensitive to different smells and you might notice that your sense of scent is much stronger, much like a dog!

Digestion Problems
Sometimes, heartburn and constipation are caused by a swelling of the uterus, making it push against the stomach and other inner organs as it grows. Also, higher levels of hormones often hinder digestion and bowel functions.

The slower emptying of the stomach may also cause the release of more stomach acid for assisting with digestion, which often brings about a sensation of heartburn. Some saltines and carbonated water can help. Drink plenty of water and eat fruits, vegetables and perhaps some raisin and bran cereal to help regularity.

Also remember that many daily vitamins contain digestive enzymes and aid with digestion. Ask your doctor before taking any kind of antacids as some contain aluminum and should be avoided. These two pregnancy symptoms can last throughout your term.
